Nifty MarsEdit AppleScripts
I recently began using MarsEdit as my exclusive desktop blogging client with the intent to establish a more structured and centralized place to administer any flow of content to my blog and if you use this application to manage your writing, you might appreciate these 2 AppleScripts that can simplify your workflow.
- Search CompFight From MarsEdit with AppleScript – We often attempt to find images that are relevant to our post and Compfight makes great use of Flickr’s API to gather any image you make a search for based on title or tags. This script will do all the searching for you when you highlight a text in MarsEdit and run the script.
- From TextEdit to MarsEdit – Despite using MarsEdit to write, I still often resort to my old system of composing post in TextEdit and saving the file straight to the desktop. Now it doesn’t matter because this script takes the text from TextEdit and opens a new blog post window with the text inside in MarsEdit while adding paragraph tags to the body text at every line break
For a more unobtrusive way to handle scripts, I highly recommend FastScripts. It sits on your status bar with literally a click away from using.
