1. About the Author

My name is Jorge Quinteros and this is an online space where I express my thoughts, opinions, passion and interest.

I’m 28 years old, live in Brooklyn, New York with my beautiful wife and dog Chloe. I obtained a Bachelors in Graphic Design, worked with a small design firm in Long Island for 4 years while still being employed with a major retail company and now pursue the former while still freelancing with web projects. Through experimentation and curiosity I developed a passion for taking photos and practice the craft during my spare time.

    In the Moment

    Underneath the Hood

The site is powered by the simplistic yet wonderful Tumblr. Before deciding on the current platform, I experimented with Wordpress but eventually felt a connection with the immense community that accompanies Tumblr and haven’t looked back since then and it only seems to be getting better and better.

I write and publish all my entries through MarsEdit, implement aesthetic changes to the site with BBedit, upload with Transmit, track my readership with Analytics, input my two-senses with Tweetie and stay organized with Yojimbo.

    The Software

I write and publish all my entries through MarsEdit, implement aesthetic changes to the site with BBedit, upload with Transmit, track my readership with Analytics, input my two-senses with Tweetie and stay organized with Yojimbo. I’m horrible at remember all my passwords to all the online services so I let 1Password do all that thinking for me.

    The Hardware

Looking back at my long Apple computer ownership, I’ve always been more keen in selecting laptops as my primary machine. I currently work with a 15” MacBook Pro which I’ve owned since 2006 and although the itch to upgrade has been great, I don’t necessarily need it at the moment.

    The Photographic Equipment

The most common question I receive about my photos is people wanting to know what camera I use, so I might as well answer the inevitable now.

Photography tends to be a very gear-oriented craft that’s often given too much attention but the one advice any true photographer can give you is that it’s not about the camera so much. It’s about how you see things and decided to capture them that will impact your photos more.

    My primary camera:

My secondary camera: For those days when carrying the bulky dSLR is not an option.

I’ve used photo management software like Apple’s iPhoto and Aperture before but like your camera, my suggestion is to choose something that’s comfortable for you and not just because everyone else is using a specific software.

All my photos are cataloged, edited and upload to Flickr through Adobe Lightroom. As for the colors on my photos you ask? Well, I’ve worked so long with Lightroom that I developed custom presets that I apply to images along with some color tweaking during the process.
