1. Texting is the New Hey

I don’t think anyone is predicting the death of e-mails anytime soon but this means of communication has become most associated with school or work. Nowadays we’ve all resorted to a more simplistic version of an e-mail which I consider to be instant and text messaging and to the chatter generated in blogs and even a service that I’ve grown addicted to, Twitter.

Some who’ve gotten caught up in the trend toward brevity wonder if it’s making things too impersonal.”Don’t want to see someone? Then call them. Don’t want to call someone? E-mail them. Don’t want to take the trouble of writing sentences? Text them. It’s as simple as that. It truly is the ultimate social crutch to avoid personal communication.

But others don’t see it that way. They think the shift toward IM and text is simply more efficient and convenient and I being of them which is why I try not to act surprise anymore when I see the amount of text messages that I manage to squeeze out in month on my phone bill. For that same reason, I opted to upgrade my plan (1500) on them. Although I did receive personal phones call that welcomed me to the New Year, it still became more evident to me that text were become the new norm or trend actual phone messages surpassed the calls themselves. So it seems that text is the new “Hi”.
