Fool’s Gold
I thought they functioned as a great couple in How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days so I walked in with all my eggs in one basket hoping that Matt and Kate would deliver again with Fool’s Gold and I have to admit that my eggs were slightly cracked when I walked out; no pun intended. The film is a blend of an adventure and romantic comedy and as we were watching it, it reminded me a little too much of another treasure hunting movie that I happened to enjoy a lot more.

The story is bogged down by too many subplots and not enough focus on what should be the central story, the rekindling romance between the recently divorced. A couple years ago, Andy Tennant directed Hitch, which was a huge success that was well received by the Valentines crowed but I’m not sure if I can say the same about this one. Pick up the pacing, juice up the chemistry, cut out 20 minutes, something. Because as it stands, there’s nothing romantic or comic about it.
