Impressions of Pownce
Kevin Rose has done it again and this time with his new startup, Pownce. It had been in an invite-only alpha state for a couple of months now but now all web enthusiast can enjoy it and see what all the secrecy was about. So exactly what is it you ask? Well, if you’re familiar with Twitter than think of Pownce as an extension to Twitter or a Twitter on steroids if you will.
The purpose itself of the application is not an original concept but Pownce makes a great first impression. It’s beautifully designed for both the web and mobile experience (iPhone). The app is essentially a great way to send stuff to friends, share links and to stay connected via the internet. Overall, it’s extremely well put-together; capable yet easy to get into and use. And useful. And fun. Try it if you can and request me as a friend while you’re at it. Now my only problem is deciding whether to go with Twitter or Pownce.
My favorite features:- Ability to import friends from other social networks (i.e. Twitter)
- Share links to your other online identities (i.e. Flickr, Facebook)
- Make Pownce your own with custom themes (just with Pro account @ $20/yr.
- Ability to share events
