Web Celebrities
So Webster defines the word celebrity as “the state of being well known” and although we often associate the word with actors, actresses, tv personalities and even radio host, there’s also one category which I would like to add to the list and that’s, web celebrities.
Just because you might not be familiar with someone, doesn’t necessarily mean that they are not well known in other areas that you may not be of interest to you. For example, I don’t classified myself as a web designer but as someone who dabbles with the arts, someone who appreciates the medium and looks up to the works and contributions of people that have made a name for themselves in the business.
I’m religious reader of several blogs and once you’ve established yourself as a loyal reader to one, you become to keep in high regard the person publishing those post. For that reason, although they may not classified themselves as celebrities, people like Dan Cederholm, Garrett Murray (who probably lives a couples blocks from me), Jina Bolton, Ryan Sims, Larissa Meek, Shaun Inman, Jeff Croft and the rest of the Blue Flavor crew are just a few of so many individuals that I would delighted to meet in future web related conferences. I enjoy their work, their position in the industry and how they share their successes and personal views on matter that may come across as inconsequential to others.
