    The crew at SLR Lounge has posted a few humorous photographer sayings that we’ve all heard before along with a straightforward translation for each. Here’s some of my favorite ones:

    • “I exclusively shoot on prime lenses” - Translation… “I shoot around 10,000 shots to make sure I get something sharp, which I can’t guarantee by the way.
    • “I am a professional photographer” – Translation… “I got my first DSLR for Christmas. Later at a family party my mom and aunt told me that I should be a professional, and voila, now I am. Hey look Ma, no hands!”
    • “You don’t need a $3,000 camera to be a professional” – Translation… “I shoot on my $900 kit DSLR that I bought from Costco. Don’t worry though, I did spring for the $100 50mm F1.8 prime lens and $200 for the mounted flash.
    • “I am strictly a natural light photographer” – Translation… “I don’t know how to use flash, lighting or anything that requires me to actually have some real technical expertise.”

    I can’t help laughing at most of them since they have the advantage of being true.
