I’ve stated in the past that my biggest complaint about the Kindle has not just been the price on the device but the lack of availability as Garrett mentioned. Sony managed to snag a great deal with Borders where their ebook reader is featured in nearly all their stores but even then I question its popularity. I don’t know anyone who owns a Kindle and I like to attribute that to the reasons mentioned before and not to the assumption that some people just don’t like reading.
Since the inception of the iPod, an enormous increase in availability and choice in how we get our music has launched the age of abundance. 8 years ago, I would be the last person to ever carry around a stack of cd’s and a disc player to soothe my music cravings. It was just impractical yet some people did it. With the iPod, I’m virtually carrying around an entire music store because the device lends itself for that and the same effect is soon to happen with the Kindle. Endless books at your disposal minus the space that it takes to keep them all after reading them. I’m a sucker for new technology so the Kindle 2 leaked photos has sparked my interest even more.
