Fog Over San Francisco - Absolutely stunning photograph of The Golden Gate Bridge taken before sunrise from Battery Spencer in the Marin Headlands. The beautiful blue tones and the way the fog completely hides the city is unbelievable. I hope to one day visit this photographer’s paradise.

Around our neighborhood, we have a few small industrial buildings and while we live on the side where we’re not completely overshadowed by them like other houses are, I still wish the view outside was a bit more pleasing.

At the moment, there’s an extensive gated lot that rent’s out space to construction trucks so needless to say that some mornings are not as peaceful as we may like. But that doesn’t mean I can’t find the bright side of situations and extract some interesting aspects of it. Photographing keeps me sane. (Photograph by Jorge Quinteros)

With so many distinct color treatments in movie nowadays, it difficult to justify what makes a photo cinematic yet I’ve chosen a few that illustrate for me that
color toning found in feature films. That strong quality story-telling look that inspire us to think of the cinema. I’m a sucker for that dramatic moody feel in photographs.

During the editing process of a photo, I approach that as an opportunity to develop my view of the world rather than just wanting to make the photo appear “better”. By developing my view, I don’t mean reworking something that wasn’t there but leaving everything intact with the exception of highlighting the feeling obtained when photographing the subject. Today is my 29th birthday. Some would see this as a sign of being stressed because they’re getting (and looking) older while others would simply more grateful for the opportunity in having another year of life.

I lean towards the latter train of thought largely in part because of my lovely wife, family and friends that enrich me everyday and make me feel opposite of what my age may signify. (Photograph by The Rainbow)

My favorite birthday quote from an unknown author:

“Maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you’ve had, and what you’ve learned from them, and less to do with how many birthdays you’ve celebrated.”

I’m not fearful of growing older. I’m more excited that I have someone in my life to grow older with.

It took me a total of 8 shots standing in the middle of a packed cross section on the hectic Champs Elysees avenue in Paris until I was satisfied with a photo that best represented being in the presence of the enormous Arc de Triomphe.

Added to the pressure was the reality the not all of us visit Paris, so this moment was significant, rare and it wasn’t something I wanted to screw up. The complete amount of other things that begged to be photographed in the area were endless and quite frankly overwhelming, so deciding how to approach my subject before framing the shot was priority.
